Small Octagonal
Shelters vary
from hexagons not only in the number of sides but also in roof pitch.
The octagon's higher roof pitch creates a stronger focal point. The
octagon's geometry, with opposing sides, allows it to fit into a square
or rectangular grid.
The Mackinac is an elongated clerestory version of the octagon shelter. See our Clerestory Special section for more details.
Small Octagons have a 5:12 roof pitch |
